Can you do “X” ? Ask the artist if they can do your desired style or aesthetic. You should have a good feel by looking at their photos but the way the artist responds will be telling of their confidence & comfort level. Do you have an assistant ? If there is even a tiny chance that you’ll need an assistant then it’s important to ask. Artists should either have an assistant or be able to access one they trust. You don’t want anyone to be scrambling because more people were added after initially booking.
Do they travel on-location & what fees are associated ? If you want to get ready on location then you want to know if they can accommodate this. While it’s far more common there are still some artists who don’t enjoy traveling especially not far.
Do you have experience with “X” hair/skin type ? Unfortunately not all artists are experienced with all hair textures & curl patterns or skin tones & conditions. Everyone should look & feel their best. To make sure everyone has a wonderful experience this is a very important question to ask so that no one is disappointed the day of.
Are you insured ? Some venues require all vendors to be insured . It would not be ideal to find out your vendor wasn’t insured after booking.
